Rowan County Young Professionals Announce 2025 Leadership Team

The Rowan County Young Professionals, a program of the Rowan County Chamber of Commerce, proudly announces its 2025 leadership team and extends heartfelt gratitude to outgoing Chair Mollie Ruf for her years of dedicated service.

Since moving to Rowan County in 2009, Ruf has been instrumental in cultivating a welcoming and dynamic community for young professionals. Under her leadership, the group’s 2019 relaunch sparked tremendous growth in participation and sponsorships, ensuring Rowan Young Professionals remains accessible to all young professionals aged 21-45. Her impact was formally recognized in 2023 when she was awarded the inaugural Young Professional of the Year at the Chamber’s 97th Annual Meeting, marking the “Year of the Young Professional” in Rowan County.

“Mollie has transformed Rowan Young Professionals into a vital resource for young professionals seeking connection, collaboration, and growth,” said Elaine Spalding, President of the Rowan County Chamber of Commerce. “Her leadership has laid a strong foundation for the future.”

Taking the helm for 2025 is Nicky Black, Executive Chair. Black is a dedicated community leader, owner of Row Co River Adventures, and Director of Account Services at Miller Davis Agency. She actively contributes to environmental conservation efforts, serving on the boards of Happy Roots and Yadkin Riverkeeper, as well as participating in Spencer’s C.O.R.E. Committee, Yadkin River District Planning, and Rowan County Creek Week. A graduate of Catawba College’s Ketner School of Business, Black credits Ralph Ketner’s mentorship for shaping her dedication to community impact. Beyond her professional endeavors, she is an avid outdoors enthusiast and lifelong supporter of the arts.

Introducing the 2025 Executive Committee:
Dillon Brewer, Vice Chair – A Rockwell native, Town Alderman, and leader in community engagement through Cheer City Riot and The Roaring Riot, Brewer is committed to Rowan County’s growth and connectivity. In recognition of his outstanding contributions, Brewer was honored as the 2024 Young Professional of the Year for his contributions and leadership. Michelle Gannon, Secretary – An educator with Rowan-Salisbury Schools and a passionate advocate for youth and professional development, Gannon brings a strong background in business ownership and volunteer service. She is committed to fostering meaningful relationships that enhance the quality of life in Rowan County.

Kyler Eagle, Treasurer – With expertise in finance and business strategy, Eagle ensures fiscal responsibility while supporting leadership initiatives within Rowan Young Professionals. His strategic approach to financial planning helps create sustainable opportunities for growth within the organization.

Lindsey Golden, Events Committee Chair – Director of State Affairs for the Alzheimer's Association in North Carolina, Golden is dedicated to health equity and community engagement. She leverages her experience in advocacy and event planning to create meaningful programs that connect and empower young professionals.

Britney Callahan, Membership & Outreach Committee Chair – A corporate communications professional with MSC Industrial Supply Co., Callahan focuses on strengthening member engagement and networking opportunities. She is passionate about fostering a welcoming and dynamic environment where professionals can build lasting connections.

Kaisha Brown, Member at Large – Communications Coordinator for the City of Salisbury, Brown holds degrees in mass communication and journalism and serves as President of North Carolina City and County Communicators. Active in boards like Rowan County United Way and PRSA, she is recognized for excellence in strategic communications, community outreach, and fostering professional connections in Rowan County.

Sarah Devlin, Member at Large – A leader in higher education as Chief Officer of Governance, Advancement & Community Relations at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, Devlin champions education and community partnerships. She is dedicated to mentoring emerging leaders and expanding access to professional development resources.

Jon Callahan, Member at Large – A technology professional at Microsoft, Callahan brings extensive experience in mentorship and industry leadership to the Young Professionals network. His passion for innovation and career development helps create pathways for young professionals to thrive in the evolving workforce.

Reflecting on the transition, Executive Chair Nicky Black remarked, “Mollie Ruf has set a strong foundation for us to build on, and it has been an honor to serve with her the past 5 years. I’m excited to continue fostering friendships and opportunities for young professionals in Rowan County. This team is ready to expand our reach and create even more meaningful connections.”

The Rowan County Young Professionals encourage all young professionals aged 21-45 that Live OR Work in Rowan County to get involved, whether through networking or athletic events, community service projects, or leadership opportunities. About the Rowan Young Professionals
The Rowan Young Professionals is a program of the Rowan County Chamber of Commerce designed for young professionals, ages 21-45, who live or work in Rowan County, North Carolina. It is also open to newcomers to the area and even those considering a move to the area who are in that age range. Chamber membership is not required to attend events.
